Thanksgiving Card 2010
I went to Stampers Ink last week and picked up this adorable Riley stamp. This will be my Thanksgiving card this year and also the card that we will do in our class next month. I found the perfect "fall leaves" paper at Hobby Lobby and used my copics to color the image. Let me know what you think! Mel

Free Vintage Image
I recently bought a book called "The Journal of the Century" that was published in 1976. This book is just full of the coolest images. I am offering this image free to anyone who may want to use it in their artwork. I used this image in a mini book that I am making for my daughter for Christmas. I am planning to post some more images in the next few weeks. Let me know if you copy the image so I'll know what kind of images you like. Mel
Tim Holtz Tag
Hi everyone......I can't believe that it has been a month since I posted last. I'm still struggling with my foot and last week they sent me for an MRI. I should hear something soon.
I made these quick and easy Halloween cards last week. Had to keep it simple so I could sit in my recliner and color the images with my copic markers. I heat embossed the spiderweb with black detail embossing powder, embossed the orange paper with my Cuttlebug empossing folder and the "Trick or Treat" came from a Makaing Memories foam stamp set that I found at Tuesday Morning.
Hope your Halloween cards are coming along.....don't wait too long.

GOOD NEWS!
Hi everyone!!! I just wanted to share some Good News with you. I have been submitting entries to the "Just Cards" magazine for about two (2) years with no luck. Well, imagine my joy today when I went to the mailbox and got a letter and a copy of the upcoming Just Cards Holidays 2010 magazine with one of my cards published in the magazine.
While I don't consider this my best work I was just so happy to finally get published!
Give it a try yourself....you never know.

Black/White Butterfly Thank You
I've been on a "Butterfly" kick lately so I created this black and white butterfly thank you card for my friend Debra Lee because she sent me the nicest birthday gift. I heat embossed the butterfly in Seaform White on Black cardstock, cut it out, and then used clear crystals as embellishments. The white paper is a Hobby Lobby specialty paper that I got on sale recently. Let me know what you think.

Butterfly Cards Class
Friday, July 23, 2010
In July my daughters, Brandi and Ashlea, and my grandchildren, Esther and Micah, were here in Kansas City. We had a great time together. This is my favorite picture of everyone. The big guy is my husband Clifford. This picture was taken the day that they all had to go home to Atlanta. After they left the house was so quiet.......I have really missed them so much.

Whiff of Joy Challenge #79
This is my entry into the Whiff of Joy Challenge for this week. I love the K&Co. paper (Wild Saffron) and this adorable WOJ image. The challenge called for Yellow and Brown and another color of your choice. I chose to use the green to compliment the Yellow and Brown. On this card I wanted to let the paper speak for itself.

This is a project I have been working on for us to do at our next class. This purse project is adorable. I used stamps I purchased last week at Archivers. The 3x3 notecard fit perfectly into the purse. I know we will enjoy this project.
My grandchildren, Esther and Micah will be here for almost a month and they arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to lots and lots of fun. Melodie

Faux Flowers
I was in Archivers the other day and saw some really colorful and fun flowers. Well, I thought, "I can do that myself" so I purchased them and them proceeded to recreate them. While they weren't quite as good as the original they would most definitely pass on a card or other project. Can you guess which were purchased and which were made?

Whiff of Joy Challenge #75
I ordered this image from Mo Manning Digital Too and thought she was so precious. I'm still learning how to color my images with the Copics and am trying to perfect skin tones but it requires practice, practice, practice. Its a rainy day here in Kansas City so I'm planning to sit down and learn how to make cute little paper flowers!!!! mel

Its another Spring day here in Kansas City........the flowers and trees are in bloom. My friend Deb Cade just delivered this new stamp set "A Kind Word" from Stampin Up and I just love this image.
If you like this image and are interested in Stampin Up products I can get you a catalog.
I used some Making Memories paper, colored the image with Copic Markers and the cute little butterflies are from Sizzix. Flowers are American Crafts.
Let me know what you think. To leave a message just click on the "comments" section under the posting. mel

What a beautiful Spring day here in Kansas City.........the sun is shining and I see flowers and trees in bloom! Sure beats cold temps and snow!!
This great weather inspired me to make a colorful card.....and to use my new die cut and border punch. This stamp that I bought at Hobby Lobby is so pretty.
Hope your weather is as nice as ours was today. Melodie

My friend Denise at All About Scrapbooking has asked me to do a project for her 3 day crop on April 17th so I decided to use the tutorial that Michaela posted at Cardheaven.blogspot.com for this cute box that will hold 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 cards. I used some of my old American Crafts paper and one of the images that Michaela send me. I just bought this Martha Stewart punch at Michaels and thought it was cute for this project. I also just bought these cute silk roses at Hobby Lobby, they are on sale, 50% off all stems.
Sorry the picture is not too good but I was just so nice outside I decided to take the picture of this project out there. We finally got some nice, spring like weather today.
Thanks Michaela for the box tutorial........mel

I'm still playing with the Whiff of Joy images that Michaela sent me. This paper is "Blossom" from the Penny Lane collection and because purple is one of my favorite colors, I just had to have it. I used some of my new Copic markers to color the images. I'm new to Copics but so far I love them!!!! Off to get some shut eye...........Mel

Spring Has Sprung
This is a card inspired by my friend Deb Cade here in Kansas City. I got the paper at Archivers and the stamp was purchased by Deb at Hobby Lobby. On this card I wanted to let the paper do the talking for itself.....The hardest part of this card was cutting out the 12 images after I stamped it. Spring seems to have sprung here in Kansas City. The trees are budding and my day lillies are coming up. I see daffodils everywhere and everyone seems to have come out of hibernation. We got our last snow last year around April 15th so we're not out of the woods yet but I am definitely feeling that my hibernation period is over! I actually got out yesterday and worked in the yard. Going with some friends to brunch today for Easter Sunday and then to a movie. I really miss my grandchildren on the holidays that I cannot be with them, and Easter is particularly hard because when we were in Atlanta, I always made a big deal out of Easter. Our Easter egg hunts were always so much fun. Have a great Easter 2010.

This is a card I made from one of the images that Michaela sent me last week. How cute is she!
This gave me an opportunity to use some of the One Heart One Mind paper that I have had for a long time. I love this paper because I am crazy for paisley and collect paisley paper at every opportunity. I'm still working on the skin tone issue and am headed out to get a couple of more Copic markers that may help with this problem. Let me know what you think.

My new friend who lives in Atlanta sent me some Whiff of Joy stamp images to play with and I sat down today to play! I had such a good time coloring the image, but I must confess I nornally stay away from "people" images because I struggle with skin tones. Well, I am definitely going to get over that now because I have fallen in love with Whiff of Joy stamps! So, thanks Michaela for inspiring me to get out of my comfort zone and go to another level of cardmaking.

Yeah! My puppy is feeling so much better. I actually got a 7 hr. stretch of sleep last night. Got up early tho' and sat down with some Making Memories paper that I've had forever and a new Butterfly die cut that I got at Archivers before I left for Atlanta. Very simple in composition but the I love the color combination and the butterfly.
I'm off to prepare for my Thursday class.

This is my puppy Sutter. He's been sick for the past few days and I had to take him to the vet. He's almost 15 years old and considered a geriatric patient. The vet says he has arthritis in his hips and she did a needle biopsy on a suspicious looking growth on his back. She gave him an antibiotic and special food to settle down his stomach and stop the diarreah and vomiting. FUN, FUN, FUN!
He's already feeling better. Sutter is by far the cutest and sweetest baby puppy in the whole wide world!!
I got stuck on this design and decided to make a cute little easter card with my SEI paper that I've had forever. This cute little puppy comes from a set I got at Impressive Ideas in Atlanta by The Cat's Pajamas.
